President Barack Obama has just now signed into law the largest single spending bill in American history, The American Recovery and reinvestment Act of 2009. Also know as the Economic Stimulus Bill.
President Obama has chosen to sign the Stimulus Bill in Denver, CO at the Denver Nature and Science Museum, where he is on a first hand tour of the solar panel installation at the museum.
President Obama was joined on stage by Bill Ritter, Governor of Colorado, and Vice-President Joe Biden, both to witness the signing of a $787 Billion Economic Recovery Bill.
President Obama Signs Economic Recovery Bill
According to Governor Ritter, Colorado is the “home of the new energy economy.” Ritter claims there are hundreds of new energy economy bussinesses emplying thousands of people all across the state.
Last year the economy lost six million jobs, with hundreds of thousands lost just last month, says Vice-President Joe Biden.
Biden recalled how then President-Elect Obama built the framework for the Economic Stimulus Bill in November 2008 while in Chicago, Illinois.
Blake Jones, president of Namaste Solar, a local company that has grown from three employees to 55 staff in just three years introduced President Obama. Jones remarks his company was on the verge of layoffs and a hiring freeze up until the emergence of the Stimulus Bill.
Jones plans a 20 percent increase this year in Namaste’s workforce, increasing to 40 percent in 2010.
Jones extended a welcome to laid off workers in the construction industry to come aboard the green jobs bandwagon and help install solar panels in millions of homes across the country.
President Obama suggested Biden, Jones and Ritter could sit down after a thunderous applause, looking very confident and smug after accomplishing a major victory with the Stimulus Bill.
President Obama thanks countless political supporters from Colorado, at times looking like he was on the stump all over again and about to give an election campaign speech.
Obama claims this bill is “the most sweeping” economic legislation ever enacted, as he continued to thank Speaker Pelosi, Max Baucus and others pivotal to arriving at the crossroads of a new era, a new economy, an energy economy.
Tomorrow President Obama will unveil the second phase of a three part plan to revive the nations’ economy. Banking and housing issues will be addressed next.
